We talk a lot about “360 recruiters”.
But not all 360s are built the same.
There’s a big difference between:
- Someone who can run a process
vs - Someone who can genuinely own and drive a search
A true search operator will:
- Build a market map from scratch
- Engage passive candidates effectively
- Position a role commercially (not just read a JD)
- Manage stakeholders on both sides
- Navigate objections and close
Whereas others are more process-driven:
- Working live roles
- Relying on inbound or existing networks
- Less comfortable creating opportunities
Neither is “bad” – but they are very different profiles.
The issue is when businesses think they’re hiring one… and get the other.
Clarity on this upfront saves a lot of pain later.
