Rec2Rec Resources

Let’s talk about what’s really going on.

Recruitment’s getting noisier. Gen Z and younger Millennials prefer text over talking. AI is now writing your outreach, your job ads, your follow-ups… and doing a half-decent job of it.

But here’s the thing no one’s saying loudly enough:

The more tech we throw into the process, the more powerful real human skills become.

Everyone’s templated. Be the exception.

We’re entering a world where candidates and clients get 10+ messages a day that all sound vaguely the same – because they probably were written by the same AI tool.

Want to stand out?

Pick up the phone. Show up. Consult. Actually talk to your people.

If you think your edge is speed or efficiency, think again.

AI already has that covered.

Relationships still matter. A lot.

Yes, use AI to prep a killer client pack or polish a job description. That’s smart.

But your stakeholders -especially those in HR or senior leadership – are still largely Gen X or older Millennials. They value face-to-face. They remember recruiters who actually listened, not just sprayed and prayed.

Your job isn’t to be the fastest. Your job is to be trusted.

Your little black book? Still gold.

In a candidate-short market, AI might find the person.

But convincing that person to listen, open up, consider something new, and navigate all the messy human objections along the way?

That takes you, your experience, your EQ, your persistence, your read of the room.

If you’re still playing the volume game, good luck.

This is the harsh bit.

If you’re sitting in an agency, don’t know your market, don’t know your key players, and are still doing volume outreach with no real context, then yes, AI is going to run circles around you.

Map your space. Own it. Be known for it.

Use AI to support your workflow, not become your workflow.

Evolve or become irrelevant.

Tech is here. And it’s not going away.

But in a sea of sameness, the human recruiter who shows up with insight, builds relationships, and actually gives a damn can still win.
